Personal trainer prices in London and across the UK
Most personal trainers outside London charge £30 to £60 for a one-hour session. Personal trainer prices in London are higher, usually £40 to £150 a session depending on the trainer and the gym (see personal trainer London prices). Big cities such as Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds and Edinburgh sit between the two, and towns tend to be cheapest.
If you are comparing personal trainer near me prices, look at three things as well as the hourly rate: whether the trainer is employed by the gym or self-employed (self-employed trainers often charge more but give you more of their time), whether there is a gym membership on top, and how long a session really is. Some sessions are 45 minutes.
Many trainers sell blocks of 10 or 20 sessions at a small discount. Before you buy a block, check how long you have to use it and what happens if you miss a session.
How much does an online personal trainer cost?
Online personal trainer costs in the UK fall into four bands. The price mostly tracks how much of the coach's time you get each month.
- £8 to £20 a month: fitness apps. A programme and recipes, but nobody looks at your results.
- Around £20 a month: apps with chat. Someone answers your questions, but the plan is usually the same for everyone.
- £80 to £150 a month: one-to-one online coaching. The usual online PT cost in the UK. A personal plan and a weekly check-in.
- £160 to £275 a month: premium online coaching. Video calls, more messages and more detailed reviews.
The average online personal trainer cost per month in the UK sits at around £100 to £120. Most coaches bill monthly, some ask for three or six months up front, and a few charge a joining fee on top.

Cheap online personal trainers: what you should still get
A cheap online personal trainer can be good value, as long as the things that make coaching work are still there. Whatever you pay, ask about each of these before you sign up:
- A named coach with a recognised qualification (Level 3 personal training or above) and insurance for online coaching.
- A programme built around the days you can train and the kit you have, with a video for each exercise.
- Calorie and protein targets with the reason for each number, and food you can buy in a UK supermarket.
- Regular check-ins, and a plan that changes when your weight, measurements or energy change.
- The price on the page, no surprise fees, and a way to cancel online.
Why personal trainer prices vary so much
Most of what you pay for is your trainer's time. A coach who writes every plan from a blank page, holds weekly video calls and answers messages every day has room for fewer clients, so each one pays more. Experience, specialist qualifications and London overheads push prices up too.
In the gym, you also pay for the hour itself: the trainer can only see one client at a time, which is why a session costs more than a month of most online coaching.
What Zama Fitness costs, and why it costs less
Zama Fitness costs £29 a month for Core and £59 a month for Coached, with no joining fee and no minimum term. Both include a gym or home programme, calorie and protein targets, UK supermarket meal guides and a Weigh-In Day every four weeks. Coached adds a weekly check-in, a monthly review and a monthly form check video.
Your programme, targets and meal guides are built from Simon's coaching templates and set to your answers, so the coaching time goes where it counts: your results, and what changes in your plan next.
