Online personal trainer Manchester: who it suits

  • You already train, or have done, and can follow a programme on your own with a video for each exercise.
  • Your hours change week to week, so fixed session times never last.
  • You want your food sorted too, with targets and meals, not just the hour in the gym.
  • You would rather spend the money on a better gym, or nothing at all, than on sessions.

If you are brand new and nervous about the gym, a few sessions with a local trainer to learn the basics can be money well spent. Online coaching then keeps you going for a fraction of the cost.

Getting your steps in around Manchester

  • Heaton Park is one of the biggest municipal parks in Europe: a lap of it is a proper walk or run.
  • The Bridgewater Canal towpath is flat and traffic-free, good for an easy run or a walk home.
  • Chorlton Water Park, Sale Water Park and Fletcher Moss in Didsbury are good for weekend walks.
  • Get off the Metrolink a stop early, or walk one leg of the commute.
  • The Peak District is close enough for a weekend hike, which counts as a very good training day.

And when it rains, the home version of your programme is ready: how a home dumbbell workout plan works.

Food from Manchester shops

Your meal guides use everyday food from the supermarkets Manchester shops at: Tesco, Sainsbury's, Asda, Morrisons, Aldi, Lidl and the Co-op, which has its head office in the city. Everything is in UK pack sizes, so the shopping list matches the shelves. For high protein lunches and snacks on the go, see high protein supermarket food.

How online coaching with us works

  • Three minutes of questions about your goal, your kit, your week and how you eat.
  • Your plan: training for your gym or home, calorie and protein targets, and a week of meals with a shopping list.
  • Log as you go, and on Coached send a short check-in each week.
  • Weigh-In Day every four weeks, when your coach reads your trend and changes your training and food.

Most Manchester trainers charge £35 to £45 an hour, with a wider range of £30 to £60. One-off sessions in the city centre can be £50 to £75, while Salford, Trafford and Oldham are often £30 to £45.

Is it cheaper to buy a block of sessions?

Usually a little. One Manchester gym lists 10 sessions for £520, or £52 each. Some trainers ask for a 12-week minimum, so check the terms before you pay up front.

What does a personal trainer cost a month in Manchester?

Once a week at £40 is about £175 a month, and twice a week about £350, plus your gym. Online coaching with us is £29 or £59 a month, on top of whatever gym you already use.

Are you based in Manchester?

No. We coach online only, anywhere in the UK, so there is no studio to travel to. If you want someone beside you in the gym, a local Manchester trainer is the right choice.

Can I train at home when it rains?

Yes. Every programme has a home version for a pair of adjustable dumbbells, so a wet week does not mean a missed week.

Can I ask for a female coach?

Yes. Lydia is our women's coach: ask for her when you join.
